Yes, I know, I suck at blogging lately. Don’t let the lack of posts fool you though, I have been very busy doing this thing called photography. It amazes me how work can go from a few jobs here and there to BAM! packed with work every week, photo shoots, meetings, editing, and more meetings. I’ve said it once and I’ll continue (hopefully) to keep saying it…I love this “job”. I don’t even consider it work, although there is a hell of a lot of work that goes into this thing, because I’m having so much fun working with new people all the time and continuing to be creative. So, hopefully, during these long gaps between blog posts I haven’t lost any of you out there who follow my work (yes, all three of you…thanks mom!). There is plenty going on over here that I am very excited about. Details coming very soon…but, in the meantime, how about some new photos?

Two Cent Sam, a Long Island based original rock band, got in touch with me a little while ago to talk about creating some new promotional photos for their upcoming new album and recently launched website. After I met with Jeff (guitar) and Mike (vocals/guitar) I knew that I had to work with these guys. They’re a great group of guys that are definitely bound for greatness with their music. Be sure to check out their website here and while you’re at it, become a fan on Facebook for updates on upcoming shows and other Two Cent Sam news.

I met up with the guys in Manhattan at “The Horizon”, a east side apartment complex that, for lack of a better word, is amazing! An old friend of mine, Lisa, hooked us up with access to the building’s rooftop as our headquarters for the photo shoot.  I was looking for a rooftop to shoot the band on and Lisa came through in a huge way, so I have to say thanks to Lisa again. I have probably thanked her about 20-30 times already. So after the guys got into their first outfits for the shoot we headed down to the streets of Manhattan for our first locations of the day. We started shooting under FDR Drive in a pedestrian tunnel that was…well, interesting. We had a small audience of “locals” who were enjoying the show and occasionally offered their help. There’s never a dull moment on any of my shoots, that’s for sure.

After getting my shots in the tunnel, it was time to head back up to the rooftop, change the guys’ clothes again and get shooting on the roof. I was very excited for this part of their photo shoot for a few reasons. First being that I’ve never been on a rooftop in Manhattan with such an amazing view. Second, I’ve obviously never had any kind of photo shoot on a rooftop like this. And finally, the weather and the sky was simply amazing. If there was anything that I could have changed about this location it would have been the guard railings which blocked just about all of the great view up there. Luckily though, they kind of added some nice elements to the photos, so it wasn’t all that bad after all.

You can never go wrong, in my opinion at least, with some dark windows and a beauty dish.
