Thanks Dave. This project has been a lot of fun and very interesting so far. Yes, that is the Elinchrom 39″ Deep Octa that I usually use in my portraiture. I’ll be posting more in detail about this project later on with lighting set up, how and why I chose to persue this project, and some other details.

Looking forward to seeing more of these charactor portraits. I really like lighting used in the shot of Ryan and the moods it creates as it falls off his face, leaving shadows remaining in his hood.

Looks a nice simple set-up too – is that a Octabank catchlight I see? ;-)

Visiting from the link on Scott Kelby’s page. Must say brilliant work. I am a fan of portrait photography and have some ideas to go about it as well.

I really like this particular post because of the use of natural light. I like the first 3 shots a lot. Well done.

I read on your blog how you started working towards portrait photography and then musicians, albums, actors etc. Can you give me a small info on your approach for musicians, actors who work locally. How to work with them, make them understand why I want this project. I am okay if in the beginning it does not turn out to be a paid gig. It’s just that I want to start it.

Can you guide me with this.
